Future-Proof LA

The Los Angeles Economic Empowerment Alliance (LAEEA) is building a new path to prosperity for Los Angeles. Powered by Equity Unleashed, the LeadersUp participatory-action research process, the LAEEA brings together employers, policymakers, educators, workforce development leaders, and young leaders to co-create a regional Economic Empowerment Policy Agenda that redefines post-secondary success, scales what works, and builds inclusive economic infrastructure.

What We Believe

Every young person in LA County should be supported to maximize their post-secondary, career, and economic goals. The future of LA depends on it.

Systemic change is possible when young leaders, employers, educators, and policymakers come together. By co-creating solutions and aligning resources, we can turn promising practices into regional policies that make opportunity real for every young adult.

Our Why

The stakes are high: too many young people in Los Angeles still face barriers that block their path to thriving careers and stable futures. LA’s economy cannot reach its full potential when so much talent goes untapped.

We start by listening to young people and amplifying their voices. We bring together leaders from across sectors and build on solutions that are already working. Step by step, this creates an inclusive economic infrastructure where young adults don’t just participate in the economy—they help shape its future.

Our Approach

Equity Unleashed

Our participatory action research model captures the economic aspirations of young adults in Los Angeles. Co-designed with our Equity Unleashed Fellows, this research has shaped the Economic Empowerment Agenda—a living roadmap that centers youth voices and actions needed to drive systems change.

Communities of Practice (CoP)

These sector-based, regional hubs will learn and collaborate in leveraging the Economic Empowerment Agenda to address systemic challenges together. Designed to co-create, pilot, and scale economic empowerment solutions, they serve as centers for collective learning and shared best practices to address workforce and economic barriers across LA County.

Demonstration Projects

Led by Communities of Practice, these projects demonstrate what’s possible and scalable. These initiatives bring forward approaches already rooted in practice, showing how they can deliver greater impact across Los Angeles and beyond.
